PIN Sets

PIN Sets are used to manage lists of passwords (PINs) that can be used to access restricted features such as Outbound Routes. The PIN/password can also be added to the CDR accountcode field.

To create a PIN set to manage access to certain outbound routes (for example international outbound calls), perform the following steps:

  1. Open the UCX Web-based Configuration Utility
  2. From the PBX tab, select PBX Configuration
  3. From the left side column, select PIN Sets
  4. Enter a descriptive name for the PIN set
  5. Enable the Record in CDR field if you want the PIN to be listed in the Call Detail Record (CDR)
  6. Enter all the passwords (PINs) in the PIN List box, one password per line
  7. Press the Submit Changes button

Usage

Next you have to associate the PIN set with an outbound route:

  1. Open the UCX Web-based Configuration Utility
  2. From the PBX tab, select PBX Configuration
  3. From the left side column, select Outbound Routes
  4. Go to the PIN Set field and select the desired PIN set from the pull down list (e.g. International calls)
  5. Enter the Dial Patterns that will require the password to use this route (for example, prefix "9" followed by "011." or "00." for international calls depending on your country)
  6. Press the Submit Changes button

A user trying to make a call that matches the specified dial pattern will be prompted for the password. If the password authentication is successful, then the call is allowed to go through, otherwise the call is blocked.
