VSP600

Introduction

The VTech VSP600 SIP DECT Base Station and VSP601 Cordless Handset is a business phone designed to work with popular SIP telephone (IP PBX) equipment and services. The VSP600 features include:

  • Base Station that can register up to 6 cordless handsets and/or desksets
  • Supports up to 6 SIP accounts and 4 concurrent calls
  • Orbitlink Wireless Technology™
  • PoE support for Base Station

Configuration

WARNING: E-MetroTel has been successful in creating interoperability with the referenced phone using our open SIP Standards implementation. E-MetroTel is not responsible for maintaining interoperability support should the manufacturer modify the behavior of their SIP implementation in subsequent releases.

STEP ONE: On the UCx Server

  1. Login to the UCx Web-based Configuration Utility
  2. Navigate to PBX - PBX Configuration - Extensions page
  3. Add an Extension for a Generic SIP Device with the following basic parameters:
    • User Extension (e.g. 641)
    • Display Name
    • secret
  4. Click on Submit to create the extension
  5. Press the Apply Config bar at the top

STEP TWO: On the VSP600 Phone

Refer to the VSP600 Base Station and Handset Administrator and Provisioning Manual on how to access the phone's WebUI.

  1. Login to the WebUI of the phone (default account admin, admin)
  2. Navigate to System - SIP Account Management - Account 1 page
  3. Enter the following basic parameters:
    • Select the Enable Account checkbox
    • Display Name
    • User Identifier - Enter the User Extension from STEP ONE (e.g. 641)
    • Authentication Name - Enter User Extension from STEP ONE (e.g. 641)
    • Authentication Password - Enter the secret from STEP ONE


     

  4. Enter the UCx Server IP address in the following fields:
    • SIP Server - Server Address
    • Registration - Server Address
    • Outbound Proxy - Server Address


     

  5. Press the Save button at the bottom of the page and the phone will reset
  6. When the phone comes back, it is provisioned and ready to send and receive calls

STEP THREE: Additional Settings

You can repeat STEP TWO to configure multiple SIP lines (up to 6) by navigating to the System SIP Account Management - Account X page.

The features supported include: Voicemail, Do Not Disturb and Call Forwarding.


STEP FOUR: Handset Settings

Under Handset Name, you can specify the name for each handset, blank is not allowed.

Under Account Assignments, you can select which accounts will be available for both incoming and outgoing calls on each handset.
The handset will first attempt to use the account you select under Default when going off-hook.

Registration

To register the VSP601 handset, perform the following steps:

  1. Make sure the handset has a charged battery before proceeding. Make sure the base station is connected to power.
  2. On the handset, select MENU
  3. From the Main Menu select User settings 
  4. Select Registration 
  5. Select Handset
  6. The handset screen displays some instructions. Proceed by selecting NEXT
  7. On the base station, press the HANDSET LOCATOR button for at least four seconds, then release the button. Both LEDs on the base station begin to flash.
  8. Press the # key on the handset to begin registration. 

When the handset registers, it beeps and the screen displays the handset name that is configured.
