Video Server NTP Settings

The Network Time Protocol Settings page allows you to configure NTP settings used by the Infinity Video Server.

To access the page, perform the following steps:

  1. Open the Infinity Video Server Web-based Configuration Utility
  2. From the System tab, select Network
  3. From the left-side column, select NTP Settings

Add NTP servers to the list box, one IP address or one host name per line or you can select the Defaults button to populate the list with default NTP servers.

Note: The default server list (shown above) is a list of host names that actually contain leading numbers (i.e. 0.rhel.pool.ntp.org). It is not an ordered list. When you enter an IP address or host name, do not include a leading digit unless it is part of the IP address or actual resolvable host name.

Select the Save button to update the NTP configuration file.

Note: Internet connection is required if accessing public NTP servers.

Infinity Video Server as an NTP Server

Note that the Infinity Video Server can also act as an NTP Server for other devices. Ensure that the NTP Server field on the other devices points to the Infinity Video Server, and the IVS will send NTP information to those devices based on its own time settings, which may or may not be derived from an external NTP Server. In cases where there is no internet connectivity, it will use its own internal clock to provide time updates to the other devices.

No setting is required on the Infinity Video Server to enable the NTP server functionality.
