Speech path issues on Remote phones
If users are experiencing speech path issues on Remote phones, please check the following:
Remote SIP Phones
- Navigate to Extensions page, scroll down to Device Options section.
- Ensure nat is set to Yes.
Remote Nortel Phones
- Navigate to Nortel Settings page, scroll down to Advanced General Settings section.
- Ensure the Public IP field is filled in with the public ip address of the router.
Port Forwarding
Typically, the UCx Server is deployed behind a router that implements NAT/PAT between the UCx server and the Internet. In order for the UCx system to properly establish voice path for calls in all possible scenarios, it is necessary to enable port forwarding of certain ports to the UCx server. This is done on the router. The ports must be forwarded to the IP address of your UCx Server (by default 192.168.1.200).
Rule Name | Port Number/Port Range | Port Type | Description |
---|---|---|---|
RTP (media) | 10000 - 13999 | UDP | Required for remote SIP phones and remote Nortel phones. |
SIP (signaling) | 5060 | UDP | Required for remote SIP phones. 5060 is the default, it is highly recommended that you use a non-default port. You can configure the port number under SIP Settings. |
UNISTIM (signaling) | 7000 | UDP | Required for remote Nortel phones. 7000 is the default. You can configure the port number under Nortel Settings. |
Firewall
If there is a firewall implemented on the network, the respective ports (see table in Port Forwarding section) need to be opened.
