Channel Settings

On the Channel Settings page, you will find a summary of the the 16 ports, including the Port Number, Type, the assigned Sip Account, the Onhook/Offhook status, and Hourly and Daily Call/Answer counts and Call Status, as well as an Editing tool. Refer to the FXS 16-port Card - Extension Configuration Process documentation for how to configure the ports for UCX operation.

Pickup (i.e. Hotline)

For most applications, the Pickup setting should remain Off. However, if you want to configure one or more analog phones with a "Hotline" capability similar to that used on E-MetroTel XSTIM devices, the Pickup feature should be enabled. When enabled, the system will automatically dial (autodial) the set of digits configured in the settings.

Activation

To activate Pickup (or Hotline) capability:
  1. Click the ON/OFF toggle button to enable the feature.
  2. In the Time Out field, enter the number of milliseconds that the system should wait for manual dialing to begin before an autodial for any enabled ports that do not have their own Time Out entry configured. This field is mandatory.
  3. In the Number field, enter the digits to be automatically dialed for any enabled ports that do not have their own Number entry configured. This field is optional; if left blank then each port must have a specific Number entry. This string should be any valid dialed digit string for UCX calling (i.e. extension number, feature code, or phone number to reach an outbound route)
  4. In each of the FXS-n rows that you wish to have Pickup (i.e. Hotline) capability, enter the following:
    1. Select Enabled from the drop down
    2. Enter a port-specific Time Out value (in milliseconds) if it is different from the default value defined above.
    3. Enter the Number string that should be dialed after the time out period if it is different from the default value entered above. (Do not enter # after the dial string.)
  5. Click Save

Example

The following example demonstrates these rules:

FXS16PickupExample.png
  1. The Pickup (i.e. Hotline) feature is enabled.
  2. Any enabled FXS ports will default to sending the dial string after the 3000 msec Time Out unless otherwise explicitly configured.
  3. Any enabled FXS ports will default to sending 241 as the dialed Number unless otherwise explicitly configured.
  4. Ports FXS-1 to FXS-7, and ports FXS-12 to FXS-16 are not configured for Pickup (i.e. Autodial)
  5. Port FXS-8 will wait for 3000 msec (default) before dialing to extension 241 (default)
  6. Port FXS-9 will wait for 5000 msec for user to start dialing, otherwise it will automatically call voicemail (*97).
  7. Port FXS-10 will immediately (1 msec) dial extension 221
  8. Port FXS-11 will wait 2500 msec before dialing 94035559876

Dial Matching Table

This table is used to configure the dial string recognition patterns used for initiating SIP calls from the FXS 16-port Card and the UCX software. Refer to the FXS 16-port Card - Extension Configuration Process documentation for how to configure the Dial Matching Table for UCX operation. However additional lines can be added to allow specific dial plan entries to send the digits to the UCX after any particular group of digits has been dialed. For example, if the company uses 4 digit extensions all beginning with the numbers 21, create an entry such as _21XX, and calls to extensions will be processed as soon as the 4 digits have been collected. Similarly, an entry of _911 will cause emergency dialing to be sent immediately after the second 1 digit has been dialed. Any other emergency service numbers should also be programmed in this table.

Special Function Keys

These settings should remain OFF.

FXS

The default FXS settings can be used in most scenarios. If you know that your analog telephone set is capable of accepting CallerID prior to the start of ringing (i.e. the modem is always on) then you may want to set the Pattern of sending CallerID to "send CID before ringing".
