Adding a Virtual Extension

A virtual extension is configured in the same manner as a regular extension. It can have features like voicemail and follow-me, but it does not link to a real phone.

Virtual extensions are not counted as an extension with regards to your licensing. Hence you can have an unlimited number of virtual extensions.

To configure a virtual extension, perform the following steps:

  1. Open the UCx Web-based Configuration Utility
  2. From the PBX tab, select PBX Configuration
  3. From the left side column, select Extensions
  4. In the drop-down list box, select the device type None (virtual exten) and press the Submit button

  1. On the Add Extension page, enter the extension number in the User Extension field
  2. Fill in all the extension specific parameters. You should configure at least the following fields:
    • Display Name (name of the extension/user)
  3. You can enable Voicemail if desired
  4. Press the Submit button to create the virtual extension

Once the extension is created, you can go back to edit the extension and enable the Follow-Me feature.

  1. Select the extension from the list on the right-hand side
  2. Click on Add Follow Me Settings link at the top of the page
  3. Edit the Follow Me parameters as desired
